next up, kitchen ware! i love this great casserole dish, and i collect these stripey glasses!

and best for last! for some reason i HAD to have this little cement frog-it is soooooo charming, in a kind of sad, sweet way. (insert rolling of brian's eyes here). here he is!

there is one more thing, but i'm saving it for a post of it's own.

pretty pastel style

i got  a new book!

i don't know if you've seen selina lake's last book. but it is so, so, so, good. one of my absolute favorite decorating books! i was interested in this new book, but wasn't sure how i would like it, being pastels and all. i do like pastels, but i was afraid it would be too frilly. BUT, it's not! i really like this book!

check out this sweet kitchen! and the smeg! the SMEG! if i had a million dollars, the first thing i would buy is a smeg. they are so cute!!

do these look familiar?? not mine, but i wish they were! it's funny how they have put them upside down in this photo, at least what i consider to be upside down. i wonder if that was intentional??

i do love this cupboard. in my little dream studio i will have one just like this for all of my yarn. dream on.......

so, i give this book a big thumbs up! happy wednesday!

winterland

since the "whirlwind" of THE QUILT has ended, i'm finding new things to occupy my time. i bought some crazy yarn for socks(love the tag!), and have been spending just a little time outside, very bundled up(2 degrees here this morning!!)

sheafe street books

sheafe street books in portsmouth, nh can be hard to find, but it is definitely worth looking for!  sheafe street lies between state street and daniel street, a block from the piscataqua river.  about half way down you'll find this cozy, charming and comfortable book shop located right in the owner's home. kenny has a great selection of contemporary as well as very old and hard-to-find titles. stop in and make sure you meet shop cat petunia, who has the most gorgeous aqua colored eyes, and maybe kenny will tell you what he's cooking up for supper in the next room!

12 degrees!

the wind is howling away outside making the windows rattle and shake.  we're warm and happy inside, all except the poor old chickens. but they do survive out there in their little down jackets!

christmas golden book cuteness extravaganza!!!

i can't get enough of these little golden books. especially the richard scary illustrations (rudolph). and those skiing elves??? gaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!

chicken run

so, i have not had the best afternoon ever........came home, let the chickens out since it's a nice day, went to get my car inspected, did not pass. no big deal, but arrrgggghhhhh!!

come home, it's dark, so i go to shut the chickens up. chickens are on a schedule. when the sun goes down, they naturally go into the coop- they don't see well in the dark. so, i look in the coop-no chickens! but i hear a little clucking sound. so i run inside and grab the coleman lantern, go back outside. i finally find them on the other side of the fence(the yard is fenced in for the chickens and rosco), huddled together in the pricker bushes.....they are not smart enough to get back into the yard when they jump the fence, but they are smart enough to hide in the pricker bushes for protection. actually, i am probably giving them too much credit! anyway, after crawling around in the dark with my lantern for a half hour, i finally grab them all (i just have three) and toss them back over the fence, and in they go. all's well that ends well, i guess!

animals and men

i am drinking my coffee this morning and looking through this beautiful book, animals and men, by kenneth clark. the very lightest snow is falling. i am hoping, hoping, hoping it won't turn to rain!!! here are some images from the book~enjoy!

i really love these tapestries. how did they do this??? so intricate!!  i guess in the middle ages people had more time for such endeavors, and probably weren't expecting to be paid for their time...
