scilla time!

i pulled a bunch of fabrics for a new quilt i'm thinking about. i'm not sure what pattern i'm going to use for this one. i have always been a big fan of the 4" square. just random 4" squares. i don't like a quilt to be too matchy. but i'm thinking about finding a different design...we'll see. i may just stick with my squares!

we went for a walk yesterday and came upon a beautiful patch of scilla, which is one of my favorite flowers! when we bought our house, one of the first things i did was plant about a million scilla bulbs hoping to have a yard covered with them, eventually. i'm thinking that "eventually" is actually decades. decades and decades. it's so nice to see huge patches of them, and i know of a couple.

gloomy gloomy gloomy

grey and gloomy, gloomy and grey. and today with the extra added bonus of rain, HAIL, and sleet! blah!

i took a "mental health" day off yesterday. i think i need to do this more often...it was very relaxing! i laid in bed and read for part of the morning, went out for breakfast, and came home and watched 5 hours straight of "sons of anarchy" and crocheted.  that show is good, but man oh man, SUPER violent and bloody! wow! i can't wait to watch more!

this weekend i hope to get to the flea market and maybe do some sewing .i also saw a yard sale sign up-yay! also, i have to do my taxes...yes, i'm one of those people.......

margaret's house

i was at  my friend margaret's house the other day. she and her husband, glen, have a wonderful sense of style, and their house is an eclectic mix of crazy and classic, weird and whimsical! everywhere you look there's something interesting to see. it feels like a cool art and kitsch-filled museum! i thought i'd give you a little tour. so fun!!

opening day!! (no, not baseball, the flea market!)

sunday was opening day of the flea market at todd farm in rowley, mass. i brought my camera intending to take lots of pictures, but i was waaaaaaaay too busy shopping to think about pictures! there were tons of vendors and tons of shoppers, and it was a gorgeous day. so much fun! here are some of the things i got!

i made a bee-line for this tin when i saw it! i love anything plaid, and i love cute tins/boxes. so, the guy said "you can have it for $5, and take all the stuff inside!" i was thrilled and didn't really look at the contents til later when i found...

super adorable vintage christmas ornaments!!!!! made me think of barbara.

i got these two "nature library" books published in 1926 and in excellent condition. not even smelly! they are FULL of beautiful, vibrant color plates:

a sweet gift

i was given this ADORABLE chipmunk painting the other day, by my friend kelly!! he had it all wrapped up and my eyes popped when i saw such a sweet little picture!!

it goes perfectly with my other chippy painting!!

we are going to bundle up and brave the 25 degree weather to attend the first day of the flea market in rowley, mass. it's a big, fun market and i can't wait!!! hope i find some treasures to show you!

the powder room

yes, today some shots from the "powder room", aka "violet's boudoir". here is where she most enjoys a good brushing! i guess i'm running out of rooms to photograph.......

one of those days where you just should've stayed in bed-blah! perhaps it's the fact of being so much on the cusp of warm weather, but just not quite there yet. we've gone back to some pretty chilly temperatures, but today was nice and sunny, and the sun felt great. had a nice walk with rosco which did perk us up a bit!

looking forward to a weekend with no plans. i'm thinking of giving the flea market a try-i bet they'll be open. also looking forward to our little opening at the bakery tomorrow night. there are some pretty cool things up!
